From 2022, the European Commission has been recognising special achievements through successful implementation of gender equality plans (GEP) at universities, higher education institutions and other research institutions (public or private) with a Gender Equality Champions Award. This year’s call for applications was opened on 4 September.
Interested institutions can apply online for the Gender Equality Champions Award until 16 October 2024 at 17:00 CET. The results will be officially announced in 2025, and the winners will each be awarded 100.000 €. Organisations from EU member states or a third country associated to Horizon Europe can take part. They can apply in one of the three award categories:
- Sustainability: the implementation of the GEP takes place at a consistently high level and with a sustainable objective
- Newcomer: the organisation's first GEP has recently been completed and there has already been progress in its implementation
- Inclusive innovation: the GEP addresses, among other things, the intersections between gender and other social categories
Admissibility, eligibility, and award criteria can be found in the Rules of Contest
