Outline

We are looking to appoint a well-organised, highly motivated student to this PhD project, which aims to investigate the resilience of dry biofilms to disinfectants.

Biofilms are becoming an area of increasing interest in healthcare and their role in healthcare associated infections is widely recognised. Biofilms present a significant challenge for disinfection as they are significantly less susceptible to disinfectants in comparison to planktonic bacteria and also permit increased microorganism survival.
